Alternatives roundup

The Best Paperless Post Alternatives in 2026

Six real alternatives to Coins-per-recipient pricing, compared honestly on cost, ads, guest privacy and free tiers, from their own published pages, July 2026.

Fact-checked by the HeyVite team, August 2026, against each platform's public pricing page.

The search for a Paperless Post alternative usually starts with the Coin math. By their own pages, most Cards cost Coins per recipient (paid designs from 2 Coins each, with premium envelopes, liners, backdrops and stamps adding more per guest), and their own pricing example works a 5-Coin design for 40 guests out to 200 Coins, or $46. Coins are non-refundable by their terms, free promotional Coins expire after a year, and the Pro subscription runs from $250/year. Fairness demands the other half: the design pedigree is real, the first 50 casual Flyer invites are always free, and no tier shows ads.

Every claim below comes from each platform’s own published pages, checked in July 2026. And where a platform beats the rest for your kind of event, we say so plainly. HeyVite is our product; it gets no gentler treatment than the others.

Best flat-price alternative

1. HeyVite

One payment per event, and the price never moves: not with the guest list, not with the design.

HeyVite removes the arithmetic entirely: pick a plan by guest count (free up to 75 guests, then $15 for up to 150 guests, $45 for up to 300 and $110 for up to 900), pay once for that event, and dress the card however you like. Foil and letterpress finishes, the premium and luxe collections, the 3D envelope reveal, reminders, guest messaging and a wedding website with its own subdomain are all free on every plan, with no ads and no watermark. Every guest gets a private link to their own invitation, and by default no guest can see the list. Name search stays off unless the host deliberately opens the event.

Full disclosure: HeyVite is ours, which is why it opens the list. The linked head-to-head pages carry the detailed, sourced comparisons so you can check every claim.

Closest stationery feel, per-event pricing

2. Greenvelope

Elegant, ad-free stationery with transparent per-event pricing by guest count.

If Paperless Post’s look is what you love, Greenvelope is the closest substitute in spirit: refined stationery-style designs, “100% Ad-Free, Always” by their own FAQ, and no virtual currency. Each mailing is priced by guest count ($19 for 20 guests, $199 for 200, $449 for 800), with annual memberships from $60/year sized by people per mailing. The free option is a 10-recipient trial rather than a plan. Best for formal invitations and business mailings where the price should be knowable before you send.

Best for weddings

3. Joy (WithJoy)

For weddings, the free all-in-one to beat: website, RSVP, registry and invites at $0.

Joy earns its place with an unusual model: the wedding website, guest list, RSVP tracking, registry and hundreds of digital invite designs are free with unlimited guests. By their own pricing page, Joy makes money when guests buy registry items Joy sells, plus optional upgrades like premium designs, a custom domain and text messaging. It is wedding-focused (with Joy Baby alongside), so it will not cover your other occasions. But for a couple who wants planning, invites and registry in one place, it is genuinely hard to beat.

Biggest free library

4. Evite

The household name with a real free tier: ad-supported, up to 750 guests.

Credit first: Evite’s free tier is real, with thousands of designs, RSVP tracking and room for up to 750 guests on a single invitation: scale nobody else’s free plan matches. The trade is on Evite’s own pages: free invitations carry ads and gifting suggestions, individual add-ons cost extra, premium packages run $17.99–$99.99 per event (Pro is $249.99/year), and guests can see the guest list unless the host turns on the private setting. Best for hosts who want free and familiar and do not mind the ads.

Best for casual parties

5. Partiful

Free, playful and SMS-first: the fun end of the spectrum, minus the formality.

Partiful is the anti-Paperless-Post: no stationery formality, no paid anything. Every design and feature is free with no ads, and fees apply only when hosts sell paid tickets. The vibe is casual and text-first, with Text Blasts and a comment wall; the caveat, from their own help center, is that guests must verify a phone number to RSVP even when invited by email. Best for parties where the invitation is a mood, not a keepsake.

Best licensed character designs

6. Punchbowl

Disney and other licensed characters on the card, behind a subscription.

Punchbowl is the one built around licensed characters: Disney and more, officially on the invitation itself. The structure to know: by their own help center, new events require a paid membership (advertised from $1.99/month, list $3.99, as of July 2026, after a 7-day trial on consumer tiers), and ads disappear only at the top Platinum or Business tiers. Best for families with a calendar full of kids’ parties who will actually use the membership.

Frequently asked questions

Quick, sourced answers about Paperless Post alternatives.

Is there a Paperless Post alternative without per-guest pricing?

Yes. That is the main axis of this list. HeyVite charges one flat payment per event regardless of design choices; Partiful and Joy are free outright. Greenvelope also skips virtual currency, though its per-event price still scales with guest count: transparently, from $19 for 20 guests to $199 for 200.

Are Paperless Post Coins refundable?

No. By Paperless Post’s own terms, Coins are non-refundable and non-transferrable (with a 14-day cooling-off exception for unused Coins in the EU and UK), and free promotional Coins expire one year after they are granted. That leftover-balance problem is a common reason hosts look for flat-priced or free alternatives.

What is the best Paperless Post alternative for weddings?

Two honest picks. Joy, if you want website, RSVP and registry in one free place with unlimited guests. Its registry-funded model is built for exactly that. HeyVite, if you want designer invitations with foil and letterpress, per-guest private links, and a wedding website at your own subdomain for one flat per-event payment.

Do any of these alternatives show ads?

Two do, in specific cases: Evite’s free invitations carry ads and gifting suggestions by design, and Punchbowl shows ads unless the host has a Platinum or Business membership. HeyVite, Greenvelope and Partiful publish no-ads positions on every tier, and Joy’s pages describe a registry-funded model with no ads mentioned.
